Upload Native
Shopify file upload app

The Shopify file upload app for product, cart, and checkout

Let customers attach proofs, artwork, and documents wherever it fits your flow. On the product page, in the cart, and inside Shopify checkout. Every file saves to your own Shopify Files.

Surfaces

One app, three places to collect files

Upload Native lets customers upload files wherever it makes sense in your store: on the product page, in the cart, and inside Shopify checkout. The product-page and cart fields run on any Shopify plan through the theme app block; checkout capture runs on Shopify Plus through a checkout UI extension. Pick the surface that fits your flow, or use more than one. Every file lands in your own Shopify Files and its reference is saved as a cart attribute that Shopify carries onto the order automatically.

Storage and privacy

Files in your Shopify Files, no PII stored

Bytes upload directly from the customer’s browser to your existing Shopify Files, never through external storage or the app’s servers. The app stores no customer personal data, only file metadata and an opaque order reference. The file reference is saved as a cart attribute, which Shopify carries onto the order automatically (the app never writes or edits the order), so attachments stay linked to orders with nothing extra to manage.

Controls and automation

Limits and automation you control

Set the accepted file types and a maximum size, and allow a single file or several, on every surface. On stores with Shopify Flow, each completed upload can fire a Shopify Flow trigger to tag the order, notify a team, or start a proof-approval step. On Shopify Plus, you can make the file required at checkout, so customers cannot complete the order without it. You can also show the uploader only for products you flag with the built-in "Show file upload" metafield.

Show to controls which customers see the uploader. Leave it on Everyone and nothing changes. Set it to B2B (company) customers only and the uploader appears just for logged-in company buyers — useful when artwork or spec sheets are a wholesale-only step. Set it to Retail customers only for the reverse, when personalisation is a direct-to-consumer offer and your wholesale buyers order plain stock. It combines with per-product visibility: turn on both and the uploader shows only when the product is flagged and the customer matches. At checkout, the same setting is a free-text field instead of a dropdown — enter b2b or d2c in place of picking a label — and checkout targeting needs Shopify Plus with B2B enabled; on other stores the checkout field has no effect and the uploader shows to everyone.

FAQ

Questions, answered

What is the Shopify file upload app?
Upload Native lets customers upload files on your Shopify product pages, cart, and checkout. Files save to your own Shopify Files and the reference is saved as a cart attribute that Shopify carries onto the order automatically.
Which upload surfaces work without Shopify Plus?
Product-page and cart uploads work on any Shopify plan and any Online Store 2.0 theme through the theme app block. Checkout capture requires Shopify Plus.
Where are uploaded files stored?
In your store’s own Shopify Files. The app keeps only file metadata and an opaque order reference, with no customer personal data.
What does it cost?
There is a free plan for 50 uploads a month, Growth at $9.99 a month for 1,000 uploads, and Pro at $29.99 a month for unlimited uploads. Plans are managed through Shopify billing.
Can I show the upload field only on certain products?
Yes. Turn on "Only show for flagged products" in the block settings, then enable the "Show file upload" metafield under Metafields on each product page in your Shopify admin. The upload field appears only for flagged products; on the cart page and at checkout it appears when any flagged product is in the cart. You can also limit the uploader by customer type — show it only to B2B company buyers, or only to retail customers.
